Not yet. SOON! But for now.....

The last post (see below) foresaw two imminent arrivals: the new website, www.richardgoffman.com, and Laid So Low, the second novel in the Mr. Bachman series, a prequel to Heartless Cruelty. The good news: They are STILL IMMINENT. Both of these momentous events will, I now expect, take place this spring. Both the new improved website and the new Mr. Bachman thriller are still nearing completion but are not quite there yet. And I have learned my lesson, and will not pick an exact date until I know for sure I can fulfill it. It's like Orson Welles said about Paul Masson's wines.

We did complete, last summer, the first promo video for Heartless Cruelty. You can see it here. And when you hear the announcer refer you to the new website, for now just pretend he said richardgoffman.blogspot.com.

I hope you like the video. If you do, please pass it along to someone who might like it too, and who should know about Mr. Bachman and Heartless Cruelty.

While you're at it, why not follow this blog (just above my handsome picture), and "like" Richard Goffman - Author on Facebook.

COMING SOON: WWW.RICHARDGOFFMAN.COM

IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE

-- probably in a couple of weeks --
my new website will be up at

www.richardgoffman.com

It will replace this blog.
If someone clicks on this blog
after the new website is up
they will be redirected there.
The new site is coming along, and it looks beautiful. I've got a great team working on it, led by Nick Simonelli @SimonelliDesign. It will have all kinds of functionality that you can't have on a blog (although it will contain a blog). I'll be able to sell books directly -- but I will still always try
to direct customers to bookstores, and only use me as the seller of last resort. In phase two of the new site, after it is up and running, we'll be adding direct downloads of e-books in every possible format.
The most exciting thing about the new site, for me, is the prospect of interacting with my readership base, which keeps growing, not exactly by leaps and bounds, more by hops and skips... but it keeps growing just the same. Next year, for example, everyone will be able to be part of a book project that is tentatively called MY MR. BACHMAN, in which people remember the teacher they had (or have) who most exemplifies the values of our own Mr. Bachman. You'll be hearing more about this.... as soon as I finish the current projects: finishing the promo video; finalizing the website; and, most important of all, getting LAID SO LOW published on or around Thanksgiving. According to my calendar, Thanksgiving is only three months away. Is that possible? Uh oh. Better get back to work.
See you on the new site.

Reading/Signing/Talking Next Friday Evening, May 3

Do you remember the jingle that went, "It's the latest, it's the great-est, it's the library"?
You do? Wow, you are really old, aren't you?

For those of you who don't remember that jingle, congrat-ulations.

Mr. Bachman and I will be reading and talking about HEARTLESS CRUELTY on Friday evening, May 3, at 6:30 pm. It's sponsored by the Friends of the Library -- specifically, the Sussex-Wantage Library, 69 Rt. 639 in Wantage. The F.O.L. would like you to register if you are going to attend, either by calling 973-875-3940, or by going online at  www.sussexcountylibrary.org

I'd love to see you there! You'll come, we'll read, we'll chat, we'll ask questions, we'll answer questions, we'll have a couple of laughs... What could be bad?

{Please note: The following paragraph contains actual factual facts.}
Oh! Did I mention THIS: The first 500 attendees receive a cookie. A really GOOD cookie. And everybody gets a FREE HEARTLESS CRUELTY TEACHER/HERO BUTTON. Now you're rearranging your plans for next weekend, aren't you?!

BLOODY MURDER, CIVILIZED DIALOGUE

The HEARTLESS CRUELTY reading-signing-discussion at Sussex County Community College's Performing Art Center on Saturday, Feb. 16th, was a great success. A fantastic conversation about the processes of conceiving, writing and publishing mystery fiction led to a wonderful exchange among author and audience members, many of them writers themselves.
Keep in touch for upcoming events!

Special thanks to Priscilla Orr and the Betty June Silconas Poetry Center for sponsoring this event.
